70年代中期，西方社会流行迪斯科音乐。“Disco”一词，意思是“用播放唱片来替代乐队演奏的夜总会”。播放的唱片音乐或歌曲，短则四五分钟，长达十多分钟，并用一个固定的速度----每分钟112拍（一说125拍），以带有冲击感的音浪（每一拍都是重拍）推动人们扭动起舞。
